Roger McNamee: If Facebook bungles the midterms, ‘it’s gonna be really hard to give them a pass’

Regardless of a stellar market execution, a considerable measure is hanging in the balance for Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, in the up and coming midterm decisions, as per Roger McNamee, prime supporter of tech-centered private value firm Elevation Partners.

“I think the issue for Facebook and for Mark is that the nation is confiding in them with the 2018 midterm races,” McNamee told CNBC’s “Cackle Alley,” “and if something turns out badly here, it’s going to be extremely difficult to give them a pass.”

Facebook has been condemned for permitting the expansion of false news on its stage amid the 2016 presidential decision. Zuckerberg’s dialog of phony news and restriction with Recode’s Kara Swisher uncovered to McNamee that the CEO’s win big or bust way to deal with the issue is the wrong tack.

“When you are managing detest discourse, there is a vastly improved alternative. Furthermore, that is to draw in with individuals and to illuminate them,” he said. “Facebook is really a great stage for doing that.”

McNamee said Facebook needs to begin applying human-based answers for the issues it faces.
